If you’d like to leave the kids at home, take a romantic getaway with your partner or sip cocktails on the beach with your friends, adults-only resorts are a great way to relax and rejuvenate without the squeals and splashes that typically come with taking the kids to the pool.

It’s important to note that all-inclusive is not synonymous with adults-only, especially in Europe. While there are a few options on this list that offer all-inclusive rates, adults-only means young children aren’t allowed at the hotel or resort, whether it be a massive international brand or a small boutique spot.

If you plan to travel with older teens, check the age requirements before staying. Some adults-only properties still allow kids as young as 12 or 16, depending on the property, while others welcome travelers 18 and older. Then there are others that require guests be at least 21 years old. Assuming your kids are at (or above) the age limit set by the hotel, don’t be shy about bringing them along for a sophisticated family vacation — they are more than welcome.

For those who like to mix culture with their sunset cocktails, the on-site Mare Art Gallery hosts international, Greek and local Cretian artists. The gallery is free for resort guests to tour.

If you prefer enjoying the beauty of a white blanket covering the ground outside on something a little more motorized, snowmobiling is also available.
